About Me Hi - I'm Alex! Just like every human ever, I often grapple with my mental health. Due to my ASD, I have never been great at verbal communication, so I realized early on my preference for written communication. Throughout my entire life, my creative outlet and coping mechanism for my disorders has been creative writing - whether it be prose or, within the last few years, poetry and prose poetry. Though I do fully intend on publishing poetry books and potentially novels in the future, the main purpose of this website, currently, is the blog. On it will be posts spanning from poetry to personal anecdotes to mental health discussions, and even political topics as pertained to mental health and the government's often inadequate handling it. I will say right away that I am not a therapist. I do not have a degree - I am still working on my general education degree in community college before I transfer to a university. I am certainly not a therapist, and I am not here to offer practical advice. Though, what I can do is write how I feel not only as a source of venting but also in the hopes someone can relate and, maybe, feel a little less alone! I do not have many posts out yet, but I do have about eighty drafts, all more than halfway completed, and ahopefully as they roll out, my main message will become clearer: it is okay to struggle, and you and your emotions are valid. Many people, like me, have four or more psychological disorders. It can feel so hopeless at times, but I promise it is possible to climb out of a pit so deep you were starting to feel a little hot. It's okay to express your emotionsi n a world that tries to invalidate or infantilize them, to use your voice in a world that tries to subdue them, and to be yourself in a world that tells you who you should be. Social norms always change, but being yourself is a timeless thing. Welcome to my journal, and I truly appreciate you being here.
