Fall Hazard
Happy Valentine's Day!
My collection of thirty-six lovey poems, Bees & Milkweed, isn't quite ready to be posted, as I wanted to make further edits to a few of them instead of rushing the post for the sake of completing it before Valentine's Day. Still, though, I wanted to post something for the occasion, so on this post is a revised version of Practice Run II, one year after its publishing.
I cannot wait to continue receiving feedback, improving, and sharing my poems. Thank you so much as always for being here, and thank you to everyone who has given me feedback.
Fall Hazard
My heart hardly flutters as fast as this
When not due to acute anxiety
Even if I'm simply reminiscing
I envision our future's entirety
Verge of dawn, still I jot compositions
Have I fallen in love? I fear it's true
Atop a lofty concrete wall I sit
I fear heights, but I'd be fain to fall for you
You're waist-deep in the moat, arms open
I'm Humpty Dumpty, but I will not break
I'm sliding off the edge of my coping
Trust fall! I'm trustful you'll help me land safe
Of all the king's horses and the king's men
No one can protect me quite like you can

Oh, Alex...I love this poem. I will have to read the others! What a great way for me to turn in for the night!
