The Rage: Carrie 2
10/13/26

3/5
This was stop two of my Carrie marathon. I considered skiping it because nobody talks about it and I'm pretty sure a lot of people pretend it doesn't exist, but I decided to anyway. I was aware of the Rotten Tomatoes score going in, but one of my favorite movies had a 14%, so I don't take ratings to heart.
It seems like the most common complaint is that it's the same as the first movie. Which, you know...if you like the first movie, it shouldn't be much of an issue. Its similiarity to a movie I already enjoyed was not an issue to me. The only things I really didn't like were the editing choices (random black-and-white and dutch angles) and the climax. Though gorier, it just didn't hit the same.
I will say I might have enjoyed it more than other people who expected it to be scary. I was already fairly certain it wouldn't be, and it was only the ending scene that made me uncomfortable but not spooked. But did I care that it wasn't scary? Absolutely not. I was there to see the continutation of a story I liked and characters I care about. It felt like watching a drama or thriller and I was entirely fine with that.
I was especially interested to see the continuation of Sue Snell's story. It's clear at the end of the first movie that she has a heavy case of survivor's guilt and what I can only assume turned into chronic post-traumatic stress disorder, so I wanted to see how her story continued. I was happy to see she "recovered" (as much as you can from an event like that) and became a successful school counseler. Did she get impaled at the end? Why yes she did, but I'm just going to pretend I didn't see that.
